It all started with grading. We observed a grader and the struggles they experienced. We saw them gather their tools – grading rule, marker, tally book, pencil. With full hands they were ready to measure the board, flip, measure again, mark, dot tally, repeat.

Their hands are too full and it is cumbersome. There must be a better way! The concept of a hands-free voice driven tally system was born.

From dot tally, to handhelds, processes improved. We thought why not take it one step further and minimize error by introducing our voice tally and help free up the grader’s hands.

After sourcing other leading companies with technologies and hardware that complemented our voice tally software solutions, we partnered together, and our company was born!

Ben Hokum & Son was the test bed for development and became our first client. A total of 9 inspectors for log scaling and lumber grading were fitted with our hands free voice recognition solution. The return on investment was less than 9 months.
